John McGlothlin Jr.

John McGlothlin, Jr.

John McGlothlin, Jr. has been in the retirement financial services field since 1974. He is a graduate of The University of Texas at Austin with a BA in Math and a PhD in Computer Science.

After 25 years in qualified plan design and administration, John founded Southwest Retirement Consultants in 2006.


John has served as a lecturer at The University of Texas at Austin and St. Edwards University. He is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™.

John McGlothlin III

John McGlothlin III earned his BA in English from Northwestern University, and his PhD from Indiana University, Bloomington.

In 2017 "John 3" returned to his native Texas to join his father as a financial planner at Southwest Retirement Consultants.

Alongside retirement planning, John 3's areas of professional interest include ESG and socially responsible investing. He also serves on the board of the Capital Area Parkinson's Society (CAPS).

He is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ and proud member of NAPFA and the FPA.

Lori Wiese

Lori Wiese earned her BA in Computer Science from SUNY of Technology and her MS in Secondary Math Education from SUNY New Paltz.


She taught math for several years before leaving work to raise her children. Lori took on numerous volunteer positions at her church and in the community while raising her family. 


In 2008 Lori joined Southwest Retirement, where she manages office operations.
